Challenge Test

The efficacy of preservatives used for the microbiological stabilization of the cosmetic, home care products or the raw materials before the original package opening/ the usage by the end user should be tested. With this test which examines the Preservative Efficacy (Challenge Test), your product is determined whether it is protected or not (before the time that the original packaging is opened and during the utilization by the end user) with the preservatives used against any microbiological contamination or spoilage.

Challenge Test can also be performed to semi-finished products or to formulation trials other than the product categories listed above. Before performing the Challenge Test, the samples are primarily taken to microbiological test. Samples with inappropriate Microbiological Test results are not taken for Challenge Test analysis.

SkopBio Laboratories, with its design comply with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and having ISO 17025 accreditation, performs the Challenge Test analysis according to the customer’s request either with European Pharmacopoeia 5.1.3 or ISO 11930 standards.

The result of the test is determined by the amount of microorganism data’s logarithmic evaluation in different time periods (like 2, 7, 14 and 28th days) on the product which has been artificially contaminated.

The test process is started by the inoculation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans ve Aspergillus brasiliensis microorganisms in the laboratory environment with the appropriate numbers according to the reference methods.

For this test, you must provide our company at least 150g. of sample product material. Challenge test performance period is 28 days.
